WHERE WE WORK

The communities we serve, providing help and support.

AND UPLIFT

PINETOWN

Phakamisa is based at Pinetown Methodist Church using the church and its buildings for the Educare and Childminding classes and the Caregiver workshops with morning devotions being held in the beautiful church. The buildings provide us with plenty of classrooms, a training kitchen, model school, anti-waste collection/sorting room, offices and outside a vegetable garden.
We work out of Pinetown in a radius of 50km serving in the townships, informal settlement and rural communities. For many homes there is no running water, sewerage or electricity and unemployment is high.
Our Educare and Caregiver Monitors visit their groups to ensure that the training and education learnt at Phakamisa is being implemented within Educare Centres and Caregiver Groups providing help and support where needed.

ETHEKWENI / DURBAN

Pinetown is a small city 15km west of Durban and part of the Ethekweni Municipality. Phakamisa based at the Methodist Church in the centre of Pinetown operates in a 50km radius of the city – north into the 1000 Hills, east as far as KwaMashu and to Queensburgh in the south.

DONATE NOW

A hand UP not a hand OUT.

Help us to uplift people from impoverishment.

HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS continues to have devastating effects within the communities we reach with the virus having a severe impact on families and their health, with children in particular being affected. The AIDS virus is most prevalent amongst younger adults ‘(themselves parents) and with death often occurring many children lose one or both parents to an AIDS related illness. Mother to child transmission is also high and this compounds the problems faced.
